Bio

I am a Dublin-born practitioner working at the intersection of sound, mindfulness, technology and the creative arts. After studying Audio Visual Media and Communications at TUD, Tallaght, I spent much of my 20s travelling throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America, where I discovered meditation and sound healing. These practices became transformative, sparking a deep sense of curiosity and wonder, and shaping my creative practice and a keen interest in psychological wellbeing.

My professional path has included advocacy, community engagement, social value and wellbeing, intertwined with my work with sound as creative and healing modality. I began leading group sound-based relaxation and meditations sessions in community spaces in London in the mid-2010’s, and doing live performances of improvised ambient soundscapes at festivals when I moved back to Ireland.

I have a Diploma in Mindfulness-Based Interventions and an M.Phil. in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College Dublin, where I further developed my arts practice, with a focus on sound design and “visual music”.

Today, my work combines community engagement with the arts and wellbeing, with a passion for the art of deep listening. I am particularly interested in collaborative, participatory creative projects that foster connection, increase accessibility and inclusivity, empower communities, and support psychological wellbeing.

I also work with children with disabilities, under the guidance of artist Helen Barry. Helen delivers inclusive arts-based projects for early years children with disabilities, through playful exploration of art, music and sound. The work takes a child-led approach, informed and motivated by Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. More information on this can be found here

Training & Certification

  • M.Phil. Music & Media Technologies, Trinity College Dublin (2024)

  • Dip. Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Mindfulness Centre for Professional Training Ireland (2021)

  • Certificate in Sound Therapy, Peter Hess Institute, Germany (2015)

  • B.A. Audio Visual Media, TU Dublin, Ireland (2006)

My professional training in art of sound focussed on different approaches from around the world, including Nepal, Indonesia, Chile, Ecuador and Germany. I learned methods of working with sound as practiced for thousands of years across cultures, as well as modern Western approaches. I am a certified Sound Massage Therapy practitioner and Gong practitioner, and completed the 208 hour Sound Massage Therapy training at the Peter Hess Institute® (PHI®) in Germany, in the use of sound in a therapeutic setting, followed by Gong Practitioner training with Christine Heckel (affiliate of the PHI®) in Spain. The PHI® spearheaded the use of sound as a complementary therapy in mainstream medicine in Germany and continues to work in collaboration with the Steinbeis University in Berlin to develop research into the effect of frequency on the brain. "Peter Hess®” is trademarked throughout Europe; http://www.peter-hess-institut.de/

I also carried out my own research as part of my M.Phil, investigating the psychological phenomena that occur through sound-induced meditation practices. This was an “arts based research” approach, whereby my findings were expressed through a visual music artwork, alongside the traditional written thesis.

I continue to work under a mentor, through which my work is peer reviewed as part of my continuous professional development.
